Industrial control systems face cyber threats from all directions these days–including the humble thumb drive. In fact, a Honeywell Cybersecurity USB Threat Report found that 37% of malware is specifically designed to be spread by removable media.

The study also found that almost 80% of the cyber threats passed by plug-in devices can critically impact industrial operations.

To combat this growing threat, organizations need to put several layers of cybersecurity protection in place, including software to scan and control the use of USB drives. Honeywell’s Secure Media Exchange (SMX) provides advanced threat detection against these attacks.
