Ottawa today announced that a $200,000 repayable contribution has been granted to Groupe AESP to help it increase its production capacity, upgrade its technological level and become more competitive.

“Behind Groupe AESP’s success are business people who dared to rethink their ways of doing things and their day-to-day approaches,” said Linda Lapointe, Member of Parliament for Rivière-des-Mille-Îles. “In doing so, they have discovered and penetrated new markets. The Government of Canada’s support reflects its commitment to innovative projects that spell success for entrepreneurs and growth for the Canadian economy.”

Groupe AESP specializes in the design and manufacture of steel structures, guardrails, stairways, metalwork and structural metal.

“CED’s financial support is helping us acquire the tools we need to more effectively meet the demand of our growing clientele,” said Édouard Aubé, President, Groupe AESP. “And more importantly, it is allowing us to take another step toward the vision we adopted a few years ago.”

Five years ago, Groupe AESP decided to focus on the manufacture of custom structural metal. Since then, the business has experienced very significant growth: its sales have tripled and its workforce more than doubled. It now has to increase its production capacity to meet demand. The current project consists in acquiring specialized, fully automated, state-of-the-art equipment for the processing of steel girders, thus supporting the company’s growth.

“As Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, my goal is to help enterprises grow and innovate so that they can become more competitive in the market and create high-quality jobs and wealth for Canadians,” said The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED. “That is why we support businesses like Groupe AESP, whose successes benefit the region and the Canadian economy overall.”
