ABB holds onto #1 ranking for distributed control systems

A recent report Distributed Control Systems Global Market 2018-2022 issued by the ARC Advisory Group has confirmed that ABB has retained its number one position in the market with a 20 per cent market share, for the 19th year running.

The global market for distributed control systems (DCS), which is approaching US$16 billion, is one of the most technologically advanced and evolved markets in the world. ABB, which has 147,000 employees and operations in more than 100 countries, says that among several key factors driving success has been its “dedication to innovation coupled with an innate understanding of the continued value of people in an increasingly automated environment.”
Building on its global technology platform, the company approaches each local market with an in-depth understanding of the physical, regulatory and economic environment, enabling it to meet the specific DCS needs and requirements of customers and their operations across the world.
As part of its process control solutions, ABB offers the customer-specific control platforms ABB Ability System 800xA, ABB Ability Symphony Plus, Freelance and Compact Product Suite.

The results can then be fed into control systems like ABB Ability System 800xA and ABB Ability Symphony Plus to improve key performance metrics of plants and assets.
ABB can boast of 70 million connected devices, 70,000 digital control systems and 6,000 enterprise software solutions.
