Surrey, BC-based E.B. Horsman & Son (EBH) has announced the acquisition of Measurement & Controls Ltd. (MCL) headquartered in Calgary. EBH acquired the MCL brand, assets, and contracts effective October 1, 2018.

MCL has a longstanding history of providing industrial automation, process instrumentation, and specialty valves to companies in the process, industrial, and manufacturing industries. It is a supplier of manufacturers such as MOGAS, Siemens Automation, Siemens Instrumentation, FCI, Richards Industries, Skycera and Pepperl + Fuchs.

MCL’s process instrumentation and automation product expertise will add to EBH’s full line electrical supply business and technical divisions. By working together, and utilizing the strengths of EBH’s supplier partnerships and inventory management systems, EBH and MCL will be able to provide customers a robust industrial portfolio of products and services that is second to none, the companies say.

“The addition of MCL to our family is exciting because it further differentiates EBH as a value-add industrial distributor. The MCL team has decades of experience supporting customers in Alberta and Saskatchewan,” said Tim Horsman, president and CEO of E.B. Horsman & Son.

“Together, we now have a unique business capable of offering Western Canadian industrial customers technical support and service in the dynamic future of Industry 4.0 and Mechatronics.”

According to said Darren Moncrieff, founder and CEO of MCL, “We are excited to join E.B. Horsman & Son, it is a great fit; our products and services complement each other, and we share similar cultures, as well as business visions. By combining MCL’s technical industrial expertise with EBH’s supplier partners and inventory management systems, we truly believe we will be able to provide our customer base a very unique service and support solutions for years to come.”

EBH and MCL will implement an integration plan that will better serve Western Canada through their unique and now larger Process Instrumentation and Automation, Controls & Motion technical divisions.
