Nothing compares to hands-on experience, and one manufacturer is once again including summer interns to provide them real-world knowledge to go along with their university education.
Smart-Hose Technologies once again brought on three engineering students for summer internships. Kyle Ward, Nick Bromley, and Emily Poprik – all enrolled at Penn State University – were given a hands-on opportunity to experience cutting edge manufacturing operations as a complement to their academic studies.
“It was a pleasure to have the interns here at Smart-Hose Technologies,” says Bill Horan, director of engineering. “We hope they enjoyed the time spent, and further developed their skills and confidence in working with real-world applications.”
The interns performed product testing, research and data evaluation, inspections, test reports, and analytical analysis for the company’s production processes. Smart-Hose Technologies produces passive, integrated safety hose assemblies, break-away hose assemblies, and break-away adapter/coupler products for industrial transfer applications.
As with any manufacturing facility, the interns were supervised by engineers with an eye to ensure safety and a safe environment for all.
