Iwanaka joins BeMetals to bolster high-value base metal project search

BeMetals Corp. has announced that Derek Iwanaka has joined the company’s senior management team as vice-president of investor relations and corporate development.
“We welcome Derek as a key member of our executive team,” said John Wilton, president and CEO of BeMetals. “I truly look forward to his contributions towards building up our shareholder base and expediting our global search for high-value base metal projects with near-term production potential.”
Iwanaka will be responsible for overseeing the company’s ongoing and future marketing initiatives and will be responsible for all corporate development activities including the identification of mineral projects.
Iwanaka brings a wealth of investor relations experience and has been instrumental in over 20 mergers, acquisitions and property divestures over his 15 year career in the mining industry, having started in his career in investor relations with intermediate gold producer, Bema Gold Corporation in 2002.
He was most recently the vice-president of investor relations at First Mining Gold Corp. where he was part of the original executive management team that acquired 11 mineral projects over the course of that Company’s first two years. He has played in key role in the facilitating the raising over US$100 million through multiple equity financings including one of the first ATM financings by a Canadian brokerage firm.  He has a Bachelor of Commerce with a major in marketing from the University of Northern British Columbia.
