Companies are struggling with deliveries and schedules as news of the spread of coronavirus, COVID-19, continues to make headlines.
As Asian markets and manufacturers play a large role in today’s supply chains, this is presenting considerable challenges for North American companies. But one company is proactively reaching out to customers to reassure them that their orders will be on time.
“Some of our customers have asked how the coronavirus will affect delivery schedules for LJ Star,” says Mielnik, president of LJ Star in Twinsburg, Ohio. “This is a natural question given the disruptions we’ve read about in the media about how Asian supply chains and overseas factory closures have taken place as a result of efforts to control the spread of the virus.
“LJ Star is not affected by any of these conditions, and our delivery schedules remain intact. LJ Star products don’t originate in Asia or use any Asian components that would delay our deliveries or interrupt access to products.”
And the news coming out of China isn’t getting any better.
Mainland China had 139 new confirmed cases as of Wednesday, the National Health Commission said, bringing the total accumulated number of cases to 80,409. Authorities reported 119 new cases the previous day and 125 the day before that.
After what some critics said was an initially hesitant response to the new virus, China imposed sweeping restrictions to try to stop it, including transport suspensions, lockdowns of cities and extending a Lunar New Year holiday across the country.
Back in North America, Mielnik points out that delivery times previously quoted will be on time – along with any future orders – as he doesn’t foresee any interruptions or delays.
“I realize the recent coronavirus news reports have introduced uncertainty into many vendor relationships and supply chains,” he says. “However, there has been no impact on our ability to produce or ship any products.”
