The new Festo PGVA pressure/vacuum generator has won Gold in MachineDesign and Hydraulics & Pneumatics magazines’ IDEA! innovation awards competition and a Silver in the Design World magazine LEAP design engineering awards program.
The tiny PGVA from Festo, only a little larger than a paperback book at 8x8x3-inches, “makes it possible for automated laboratory devices to precisely control liquids for R&D into new life saving drugs and for high-speed sample screening,” states the press release.
This pressure/vacuum generator is an all-in-one solution, with pressure supplied by a quiet 50db pump and stored in internal pressure and vacuum cells at 450mbar pressure and vacuum. Air is filtered to -0.001µm purity. Flow is servo controlled by a fast, silent, and energy efficient piezoelectric regulator. Communication with the unit is through RS 232 or TCP/IP.
The PGVA was voted by the readers of Machine Design and Hydraulics & Pneumatics as the Gold award winner in the motion (flow) control category. A Design World magazine panel of outside judges awarded the Silver to the PGVA in the pneumatics category.
