Turck has acquired the remaining 50 per cent interest in Turck Chartwell Canada of Markham, ON, and thus is 100 per cent owner of the new subsidiary.

The company name will now be known as Turck Canada Inc. The automation specialist initially acquired the first 50 per cent interest in its long term Canadian sales partner Chartwell Automation in 2014. Mark and Steve Boehmer, the two founders of Chartwell, have signed long-term management contracts. They will continue to lead the company as president and VP sales and marketing.

“This is a very exciting event for both companies, for our employees, our distributor partners and customers,” says Steve Boehmer. “Our greatest assets have always been our people and now as a Turck subsidiary we believe that it will allow us to provide a wider array of services with enhanced knowledge and expertise. As a fully-owned Turck company we will enjoy the benefit of access to all of the resources available through the worldwide network that Turck has established.”

Christian Wolf, managing director of the Mülheim, Germany-based Turck Group, says: “Our longstanding partnership was due in part to how highly compatible our two firms operated. Chartwell has been Turck’s exclusive partner in Canada since 1983 having successfully grown the Turck brand and name into one of the leading automation suppliers in Canada. We had similar corporate cultures, values and philosophies on doing business. Turck Chartwell Canada Inc. will continue to provide outstanding application and technical support for the array of products in our core categories of sensing, fieldbus, interface and connectivity.”

Founded in 1965 Turck has more than 4,500 employees working in 28 subsidiaries and sales partners in 60 other countries.
