TÜV SÜD, a provider of testing, auditing, inspection and certification services, has opened a new regulatory compliance testing lab in the Greater Ottawa Area. The facility was designed to become one of TÜV SÜD’s premier locations for safety, electromagnetic compatibility, wireless and NEBS (Network Equipment Building Systems) testing.

A staff of twelve, all with expert level experience, will operate the lab located at 1280 Teron Rd, Kanata, ON K2K 2C1. The 23,000 square foot lab offers wireless and EMC testing utilizing 10 metre and 3 metre ambient free semi-anechoic chambers. Environmental, power and safety testing are also available with equipment that has been recently upgraded to meet new market demands. Additional investment in early 2018 will expand wireless testing capabilities to better serve that expanding market.

As the only NEBS compliance lab in the region, TÜV SÜD will maintain the necessary ISO 17025 lab accreditation and Verizon Independent Testing Laboratories NEBS Testing Certification program accreditation. The NEBS program helps expedite product-to-market cycles for Verizon’s telecommunications equipment vendors and creates more economical compliance testing processes. Test plans that combine NEBS testing with other mandatory compliance testing allows the lab to offer a turn-key solution from an individual location.

“TÜV SÜD has been aggressively investing and expanding in Ontario and Quebec for more than 10 years. This new lab offers our local customers a complete regulatory testing solution and aligns with our North America strategy to become the leader in wireless and EMC testing services,” states Darryl Fleger, Canadian Country Manager, TÜV SÜD Canada.
