Rittal expanded its operations by opening an innovative new Rapid Design Center located in its Oil & Gas Competency Center in Houston, Texas.

“We’re excited about expanding our operations to the Houston area,” said Mike Freund, managing director for the U.S. at Rittal. “Our new Rapid Design Center is a real game changer for customers in the Texas market.”

Built to improve process efficiency, the massive 85,000-square-foot facility is equipped with high-efficiency automated technology to deliver modified enclosures in days instead of weeks. With Rittal’s order-modify-ship process, customers can choose from a variety of in-stock enclosures and accessories or request a custom design without the usual multi-week wait time.

“We can virtually meet any specification their project may require, and we can turn it around quickly. We’ve got thousands of enclosures and accessories in stock to make that happen,” said Freund. “And, if modifications are needed, our team of experienced specialists can quickly design the custom changes and enhancements to ensure the desired outcome.”

Rittal’s on-site EPLAN engineering team can quickly convert DXF and CAD drawings for custom designs directly into state-of-the-art, automated laser cutting modification machines for a faster turnaround. The LC and BC Perforex machines are completely automated to combine the drilling, tapping and milling of enclosures into a single cycle, taking minutes to complete rather than hours.

The new Rapid Design Center can modify stainless steel enclosures with laser cutting. In addition to stainless steel, other standard enclosure materials can be machined including steel, aluminum, plastics, fiberglass and copper.
