Polysulfone or PFA body level switch compatible with most liquids

Mike Edwards

Products Kobold level switch liquids

The Kobold TED series electro-optic level switch operates independent of liquid properties, such as: colour, viscosity, dielectric constant, density, conductivity, contamination and temperature.

The Kobold series is compact, self-contained, and is an all solid state design. Reliability and operational consistency are ensured by use of a design that contains no moving or wearing parts. Installation is simple: thread the body into a container, reservoir or pipe. The body is available in polysulfone or PFA and can accommodate a variety of containers and chemicals.

For applications requiring dry contacts or a greater electrical switching capacity, consider pairing the TED with the KOBOLD RL-59xx series power supply/relay module.

Specifications include:

  • Switch Output — NPN Open-Collector, N/O Dry, 300 mA Max. Load
  • Supply voltage of 5 to 35 Vdc
  • Supply Current of 33 mA (excluding load)
  • Wire Leads of 18 in.
  • Maximum Pressure 200 PSIG
  • Process Connection — Polysulfone or PFA, 3/8 in. NPT; conduit, ½ in. NPSH
  • Operating temperature of-40° to 230°F
  • Storage Temperature: -67° to 257°F

Sensor Wet (N/O): When the prism is immersed in liquid, light from the infrared LED is refracted into the liquid and fails to activate the internal photo transistor. The electronic switch then closes the circuit.

Sensor Dry (N/O): When the liquid level falls below the prism, light from the infrared LED is reflected back into the prism and onto the photo transistor. The electronic switch then opens the circuit.
