Pepperl+Fuchs ecom, a manufacturer of mobile devices rated for hazardous areas, has introduced the Ex-Cover Pro D2, a mobile device for the frontline workers in Division 2 areas. Building on the strengths of the Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro, the device has been certified for use in potentially volatile settings and is designed to help those in oil and gas, chemical, petrochemical, and pharmaceutical industries work faster and more efficiently, while also staying safe.

The Ex-Cover Pro D2 offers the durability frontline workers need with integrated features, the company says, like Samsung Knox customization and management capabilities, push-to-talk, barcode scanning and more to help users to streamline workflows.

The IP68 rated device can withstand drops of up to 1.5 m without a case, and its MIL-STD 810G certification is said to make it reliable in extreme altitudes, humidity, and other severe environmental conditions.

Glove Mode also offers enhanced touch capabilities with gloves and in wet conditions. The unit comes as an unlocked device and is compatible with Bell and Telus.
