The first ecological battery on the market is finally available in Canada, and it is mercury, cadmium, lead, lithium, and PVC free.
And according to Fuji Batteries Canada, it is just as powerful – if not more so – than the competition.
“The Fuji EnviroMAX battery has many environmental benefits,” states a report from the Quebec Centre of durable development, and that “the company stands out from its competitors on several levels.”
Environmentally friendly, it is composed with more than 93 per cent of recycled and recyclable materials, and the packaging is made of recycled and recyclable materials and 100 per cent recyclable PET plastic.
60% of Canadians put their unloaded batteries in the garbage
A household and environmental survey, conducted in 2005, states that 60 per cent of Canadians dumped their discharged batteries to the garbage. This poses a significant threat to the environment because they contain toxic substances identified in the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999.
According to Environment Canada’s PCE Study, in 2004, 11,300 tonnes of batteries were discarded and 323 tonnes recycled. In 2010, 15,327 tons of batteries were discarded and 650 tons recycled.
However, this problem is eliminated with the range of Fuji EnviroMAX eco-friendly batteries, as they are landfill compliant.
The batteries do not emit ozone-depleting compounds and their factories operate according to strict environmentally responsible standards.
