Triple offset butterfly valve suitable for cryogenic applications

The Type LTR 43 triple offset butterfly valve from Samson Controls is specially machined with a polished shaft to reduce friction, hysteresis, and torque requirement. In addition to the disc seal, the body seat can be easily replaced in the field, the company says.

Many competing triple-offset butterfly valve designs utilize an integrated seat, it adds, requiring repairs to be done in a specialty machine shop.

The large sealing surface of the seat and disc seal ring guarantee bi-directional tight shutoff, even at high pressures.

The Samson Controls standard LTR 43 valve can be used for up to Safety Integrity Level III applications acc. to IEC 61508.

The use of high-quality materials and precision machining is said to allow for the strict tolerances required in cryogenic applications — operating conditions down to -196°C can be achieved.
