PORTABLE GAS ANALYZER Based on Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy The line of Model 5100 Series gas analyzers has been broadened to include a portable version. Based on Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS), it provides superior analyte specificity, sensitivity and measurement speed of response. The initial version of the 5100 Portable is configured for the measurement of H2O in Natural gas, bulk gases and hydrocarbon gas streams. Additional analytes will include O2, CO2, CO and CH4 . The hand-held, battery-powered device provides approximately 8 hours of use before requiring a recharge. Other features include compact, fully enclosed optics, sample handling, on-board reference cell for laser line lock, and all digital signal processing. Its laser module has an internal Thermal Electric Cooler (TEC) and thermistor for laser wavelength stability. Application specific gas cells with a wide range of path lengths are available. Each unit is factory calibrated and the laser wavelength stability and non-contact nature of the measurement eliminate the need for field adjustments. www.ametekpi.com AMETEK Process Instruments |

Remote Display Multimeter Brings Wireless Technology To Contact Electrical Measurement The Fluke 233 Digital Multimeter uses a 2.4 GHz ISM Band wireless transmitter to immediately send measurements to the detached display, improving safety and increasing productivity for industrial and commercial electricians and electronic technicians. By simply sliding the wireless display out of the meter body, the user can place the display where it is most easily seen – up to 10m (33 ft.) from the point of measurement – while putting the meter in the best position to take measurements. Designed for both convenience and safety, the Fluke 233 makes it easier to take measurements in hard-to-reach places, or make measurements in machines or panels that are physically separated from a limit or isolator switch. Making measurements without holding the meter can help users improve their visual focus on their test probes and work more safely. The low-power, 2.4 GHz-ISM Band wireless signal that transmits measurement data is resistant to electromagnetic interference. The radio transmitter automatically turns on when the display is removed from the meter and off when the display is reattached. The removable display is magnetic and has a flat bottom, so it can be conveniently mounted or placed on a flat surface where it can easily be seen. When the display is attached, the Fluke 233 operates as a conventional multimeter. The Fluke 233 will measure up to 1000 VAC and DC and up to 10A. It has a 10,000 μF capacitance range, measures frequencies to 50 kHz and captures min/max and average readings automatically. It features a 6,000-count display and includes a built-in thermometer that enables users to take temperature readings easily without carrying a separate instrument. The meter body is powered by three AA batteries; the display has two AA batteries. Auto-off feature maximizes battery life. The Fluke 233 is safety rated for use in CAT IV 600V/CAT III 1000 V working environments.

liquid ultrasonic meters deliver accurate flow measurement The Daniel Model 3804 liquid ultrasonic flow meter now offers high temperature and high viscosity transducers. The high temperature transducers are designed for use from -58 to +302°F (-50°C to +150°C) and the high viscosity transducers extend the viscosity range of the Model 3804 up to 1,000 centistokes (cSt) with Reynolds numbers above 10,000, making it ideal for a wide variety of crude oil refining applications. The high performance meter has four ultrasonic paths in two different planes. Within the meter body are eight fully integrated, wetted ultrasonic transducers forming four crossed paths which allow measurement of cross-flow and other flow phenomena. In high temperature applications, the signal processing transmitter is remote mounted from the transducers. The absence of obstructions or moving parts in the meter ensures no wear or pressure loss, reducing pumping requirements and generating energy savings. The placement of transducers at the pipe internal wall, outside the active flow, reduces the chance for localized flow disturbances, dirt build up, erosion on transducer faces, and hydrate build up in low dew point applications. An advanced operation and predictive intelligence package allows users access to real-time diagnostics to detect flow disturbances that may affect measurement, in addition to addressing maintenance alarms before they lead to flow upsets. The need for periodic calibration is also reduced, drastically cutting cost for on-site proving and procedures, resulting in considerable cost savings in both capital and operation expenditure.

FUSE BASES ARE IDEAL FOR COMPACT COMPONENT ARRANGEMENTS Rittal’s busbar fuse bases, which range from 100 to 630 amps, are ideal for compact and safe component arrangements. The fuse bases can be mounted either directly onto busbar systems or onto enclosure mounting plates. Fuse monitoring enables fast fault diagnostics via a signal, which is sent to advise of a blown fuse. Fuses are quick and easy to install due to a special locking mechanism and a special switching aid pre-stresses the contact when the fuse base lid is closed, enabling the fuse to slide reliably into its final position without any damage to the contact. A spacious viewing window incorporated into the fuse base lid allows easy access to test holes for direct measurement of the fuses. www.rittal.ca Rittal Systems
